TOOK $50,000 TO LIVE, BANK EMPLOYE ADMITS Salary of $1,800 Too Small, Says Former Director of Brook- Iyn Institution. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, October 23 —Wallace L. Conner, employe of the Sumner Suvings Bank in Brookiyn for 17 years and a director of the bank When the institution was takem over by the Lincoln Savings Bank thrée months ago, was arrested hege yes- terday on a charge of forging drafts for §4,000. Police reported that while being questioned he admitted taking about $50,000 from the banl. Of this amount Conner has paid baci $30,000, according to his confession to the police. Inability to live on his salary, which was $1,800 a year until re- cently, Conner told the police, caused him to take the money.
