He was born near New Martinsville, W. Va.. April 13. 1877, was a farmer, traveling man and real estate operator. He was a candidate for Congress on an inde- pendent ticket in Missouri and again in Indiana, when he moved to this state. Harrop Organized Party. Mr. Zahnd stated that as Mr. Har- rop was the organizer of the People's Progressive party at Omaha last Jan- uary, which nominated Robert R. Pointer of Dearborn, Mich., for Presi- dent, the People's Progressive party would henceforth join with the Inde- pendent party and go forward under the latter’s banner, as he understood that Mr. Pointer would withdraw. Robert M. La Follette was not in- dorsed by the Independent party, Mr. Zahnd said, because the members | could not indorse the platform of the | Conference for Progresatve Action at Cleveland on July 4 and 5.
