Although 700 young trees will be planted this spring, Mr, Lanham said, the end of the fiscal year probably will show that twice that number have been destroyed from various causes. Insects are not the only agencles responsible for tree destruction, and Mr. Lanham is frequently appealing ta citizens to co-operate in protect- ing the trees. Hotel Man Expires. BALTIMORE, Md, March 15—Col. Jerome H. Joyce, owner of Joyces Hotel, opposite Camden_station, and one of the best known hotel men in the cast, died today after an illness lasting several months. Col. Joyce was a native of Balti- more and sixty-nine vears old. He was one of the first Baltimoreans to become interested in aviation.
