A program of desired street improve- ments for Manor Park and vieinity, which will connect with Takoma Park on the north and Brightwood on the | south, were outlined by the Manor Park Cltizens' Association, at a meeting at 6210 3d street northwest, last night. A resolution was adopted unanimously to request Engineer Commissioner Bell to meet with the committee on streets jand lights, M. J. Maher, chairman, to { discuss improvements. Additional side- walks, lights and sewers will be asked. The association went on record as opposed to any change in school hours, such as had been proposed to the board of education. The organization adopted a resolu- tion to request the zoning commission to prevent the erection in suburban or ‘class A residential districts of the so-called chain or row houses. Determination to obtain a_double track for the street car line through Manor Park was expressed by the as- sociation. New methods for recovering gasoline ordinarily lost have resulted in an aver- age increased recovery of nearly half a gallon of gasoline per barrel of crude oil from uncondensed vapors, the bureau of mines announced today. Steiner, special adviser to Commissioner of Internal Revenue Blair, has been appointed a member of the committee on appeals and re- view of the internal revenue bureau.
