At the Community Centers ‘With the community centérs includ- ing more than 200 separate groups in thelr schedules for the week, represent- ing many kinds of activitics, the board of education of the public schools of the District of Columbia was- justified in its recent. §tatement that the com- munity center work under its auspices long since has received the stamp of definite approval by the co-operation and good will of the people and by the approbation of Congress in the con: tinued appropriation of the necessary funds. l The statement that the community center-work exerts a refining influence and will' be reflected in a better citizen- ship of tomorrow is undoubtedly true. The tommunity center leaders and ex- ecutlves have the rare -combination of the ideal and the practical. . They are succeeding in making the people of all ages, who attend the activities, happy, along lines tending toward the obedi- ence of law and the consideration for the welfare of humanity.
