By the Associated Prest NEW YORK, February 17.—Nearly all the speculative Interest was con- centrated during the past week In the leading petroleum issues as the result of the further advances in oru oll and petroleum products. . These advances were folldwed by estimates of earnings of many of the producing, refining and distributing) companies. Prairie Oil and Gas led this group, | making an advance up to yesterday of 28 points to 263. South Penn Oil followed with an advance of 15 points | to 195 and Kentucky Oil made a Kmn] of 8 points to 105. There were large | transactions all through the week in Standard Oll of Indiana, which rose | 2 points to 661, buying of that stock being accompanied by reports that it had arranged for absorption of an important producing company. Divi- dend declarations that showed In- creased distribution in some cases ‘were also factors in causing strength in these stocks. Vacuum Oil was one of the strongest of the new low par value iseues, ad- vancing over 2 points to above 48. Gult Ofl led the independent issues with an advance of 8 points to above 67, and the Salt Creek Issues were active and strong and made substan- tial gains, International Petroleum was heavily traded in, especially in the last few days and also made a sharp advance. Mammoth' Ofl, after selling at 55%, dropped to 503%. Ipdustrial issues did not move in line with the petroleum stocks, but many of these shares were in supply when moderate advances ocecurred. BALTIMORE PRODUCE. BALTIMORE, Md, February 17 (Spectal) —Under lighter receipts this week the egg market showed a de- cided firmer tone, and values rule a shade higher, closing strong at 37 cents a dozen for native and nearby | firsts. A good demand prevails, and desirable Stock cleans up. promapdy: While conditions are favorable more liberal shipments are advisable, and should not be held, as only strictly {reah stock will bring top quotations. With the exception of turkeys the live | neullry market rules steady to firm | under a good demand, but centered on large fat stock. Turkeys are in fairly liberal receipts, with only & limited demand prevailing for me- dium sized stock of good quality at 36 to 38 a pound for hens and 30 for voung gobblers. Heavy old toms and Poor and crooked breasts undesirable and slow to move out at 25-for the former and 20 for the latter.
