Coue Sees Greater Future For ‘Autosuggestion in U. S Foundation Laid for Practical A pprecia- tion in Harmony With Medical Science, . - Declares French Professor. ARTICLE VI BY EMILE COUE. Tt may be interesting at this point to move forward a little and take a glance at the future of autosugges- tion. T have no doubt in my mind that the principles of autosuggestion are established, and that a sound basis for their praetical appli- tion has been prepared. That appli- on is bound to become more and generalized, as the principles come more widely knbwn, especial- mong medical practitioners. I t too strongly insist that auto- ar from being in con- cal is perfectly in harmony w . and is destined to develop into one of the most powerful curative elements at the disposal-6f more a pediod of considerable vchological research at of the last centu Charcot, and the famous S Schools took the and others, to reveal the amazing nat- ural forces at our own command, which had been so long ignored or neglect- ed. If I mention myself here it is simply to say that I have done noth- Ing more than ‘to démonstrate the possibility for every one of utilizing for his own physical and moral well being: the force of the subconsclous revealed by the diffused, abstract no- tions of the new school of philosophy. Others wil carry on the work, but I think I may say that the basis of a new practical philosophy with defi- nite therapeutic application has now been laid. It is admitted that the human mind is a much greater force than was believed formerly. Facts— cures - obtained by suggestion and autosuggestion in cases even of or- ganic diseases—have come to prove the importance of the idea in the treatment of bodily ills. From the purely experimental stage the doctrine of autosuggestion is ripe enough to enter the domain of universal application. Already, in Parls, it Is being carried forward on the crest of a big scientific movement, which bids fair to grow rapidly un- der the leadership of a group of en- thusiastic members of the medical faculty, philosophers and savants.
