Walter Granville Guss, architect ‘and clvil engineer, with offices in the Maryland building, died at Gar- field Hospital yesterday afternoon. | following a brief fllness of pneu- ,monia. Mr. Guss was one of the best known architects in Washington, and | was the architect, builder and owner of the Tudor Hall apartment house 1and the Observatory apartments on 16th street. He was a member of the University Club. Mr. Guss was born in Philadel- {phia August 16, 1883, and was_the |son of Dr. and Mrs. Harry T. Guss. He was u graduate of the Washing- ton Central High School in 1902 and of Cornell University in 1906. During his student days at Central High School he was captain of Company A High School Cadets. His wife died in October, 1918, of influenza during the epidemic of | that disease. He leaves one daughter, Miss Maybelle T. Mark Hesdorn, eighty-one v who fer half a century had been con nected with the Treasury {went, and a veteran of the ¢ | died "Monday at his home street southeast. The funcral serv- ices will be held at the family resi- dence tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev Hugh T. Stevenson, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiat- ing. The interment will be in Arling- ton national cemetery with military honors. Mr. Heydorn was a native of Ger- many, coming to this country at the age of eight years. He served through the ¢ war_in the 4>th New York Volunteer Infantry. He was a member of the G. A. K. and Immanuel Baptist urch. Up to two vears ago, when Mr. Hevdorn retired on account of failing health, he had been for fifty vears comnected with | the secretary’s office of the Treasury | Department, division of mails and He was one of the oldest and t known members of the personne, { of the Treasury Department. He i survived by a son, Mark E, Heydorn. e C. F. FISHER DROPS DEAD IN FRATERNITY PARADE Charles F. Fisher, sixty-three years old, a retired business man and well known in fraternal circ.es, dropped dead yesterday afternvon in a parade of the Independent Order of Odd Fel- lows in North Washington street, Alexandria, Va. He was a member o. Harmony Lodge, I. O. Oy F.. of this city, and was one of the members of that organization taking part in the parade. During the march he was stricken with heart failure and col- lapsed. He was taken to the side- i walk and medical aid summoned, but he died before a physician could reach him. Mr. Fisher, in addition to being a member of Harmony lLodge, was a member of the Golden Cross and Can- ton of Washington, No. 1. The body was brought to the family home, 71 Randolph place mnorthwest. No ar- rangements have been made for the funeral. Mr. Fisher is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jessie C. Fisher and Mrs. Frank H. Jackson. —_ DIES ON DOORSTEP. Andrew King Fatally Stricken on!
