PHILADELPHIA, November 15.— ‘With messages of encouragement pour- ing in from every corner of the globe, delegates to the eleventh world con- vention of the Women's Christian Temperance Unlon expressed confidence today that International prohibition would be achleved not many years hence. Delegates from Scotland and Germany brought messages to the convention that even those countries, generally regarded as firmly opposed to dry legislation, soon might prohibit the sale of intoxicants. ‘The world convention closes today and the National W. NEW YORK, November 15.—Lord Louls Mountbatten of England and his bride, back in New York today after a six week's tour of the United States, revealed that one of his hob- bies is collecting motion picture films. He is survived by a wife and three children. After prisoners had been taken to the barber shop this morning, one of them warned Willlam Doidge, a guard, that Martinez was camrying a knife. Doldge demanded the knife. Martinez replled by etabbing the guard. Joseph Durkin, another guard, approached and attempted to disarm the apparently crazed man. Martines stabbed him. Capt. Leonard then rushed in and tried to obtain the knife. Martinez stabbed him in the left side, the blade entering the heart. Capt. Leonard staggered a few feet and fell. By this time other guards had been attracted to the scene. Martinez was stabbing_right and left. He knifed Guards Martin Lengyel, George Lo- gan, M. F. Dunkel and James Galvin. The last two named were only slight- 1y wounded. The condition of Doidge, Lengyel and Durkin, while serious, is not thought to be critical. GUILD WOMEN TO MEET.
