Will Be Located in' Indiana if Present Plans Go * Through.” To ascertain its suitability as a probable location for the “Ideal sec- tion,” detailed surveys of that sec- tion of the Lincoln highway between Dyer and Schererville, in Lake coun- ty, Ind., have been completed. This is the point on the great transcontinental roadway that has been tentatively determined upon by the board of directors of the associa- tion as the best location for the “ideal section” to be .built as an ob- ject lesson embodying the most ad- . vanced highway specifications. Lockwood, Green & Co., engineers, in co-operation with W. G. Thomp- son, the association's consulting en- gineer, have completed extensive in- vestigations on the ground concern- ing typography, drainage, soil condi- tions and costs. Work Nearly Planned. The final design of this short sec- tion of road, which is expected to surpass in adequacy, permanency and beauty any section of rural highway now existing in the United States, is being rapidly brought to completion, in accordance with the general prin- ciples laid down by the technical committee appointed specifications. 7 While the highway's engineers are engaged in the designing of the road- o Handrer b 3 4%5,?4{"/!,% wm o f OwingsMills N Pikesyille ToPhila 4 Ko Yirk way itself, Jens Jensen, the famous ! landscape architect, ‘has completed extensive studies of. the natural beau- ties of- the terrain at the tentative location, which is well forested, and is engaged in the devélopment of the plans for its beautification which will be worked ow: along the right- of-w Gunn, president of the Lincoln | J.
