RUM RUNNERS BELIEVED TO BE USING AIRPLANE Black Hills Officers Fail to Find 8till, But Discover Intoxi- cated Ones. (Special). —Now ' that the highways Jeading from the British northwest | and from Wyoming and Montana arfli snow. making the use of automobiles | difficult. it is believed that in at least one case whisky runners are utiliz- ing an airplane in. transporting liquor into South Dakota. Black Hills officers have recently d that more drunken men than are seen in the Black Hills and this has caused speculation | as to the source of their supply. No stills can be found in the Black Hills. It has been discovered that during the past few weeks an airplane has been seen on a number of occasions in the region northwest of Sturgis, north of the Black Hills. The plane has made trips rather regularly. The 'state and prohibition officers would require another airplane in| order to capture it, and this would ! prove a difficult task in the darkness of the evening. The only easy meth- od of "catching the liquor runners would be to discover the landing place in the Biack Hills and then have of- ficers on hand to watch for the land- ing of the airplane.
