Building Committee Makes Appeal to Public for Assistance. s The Infant Shelter will give its Christ- mas celebration next Saturday at 512 Min- na street. An appeal is made fo the public for help to make this, the last Christmas to bé spent in the old building, one to be remembered. Theé following cir- cular has been issued by the Infant Shel- ter bullding committe: San Francisco is kfiown as a very charitable city and justly so. ‘This fact is gratefully con- firmed by the Infant Shelter Building Commit- tee. Though organized but a few weeks, tue sum of §7704 has been collected. New to the work of soliciting, the committee feels that it has great reason to be encouraged by this re- sult and will press steadily on with the good work until the amount necessary for the new building has been reached. In the meantime the glad Christmas week is | here and there cre a hundred little ongs in the | Shelter at 512 Minna street who have been | talking of it by day and dreaming of it by | night—this Christmas time, with its ‘“‘real” | Santa Claus—since the last firecracker was fired on the Fourth of July. For many years a folder sent out at the Christmas season has been the only appeal to the public for aid in this noble charity. This year that folder has been omitted on account of the Yund which is being raised for the new | bullding. | But Christmas itself is not to be omitted un- der any circumstances where one hundred lit ones are concerned, and the Shelter will have its Christmas dinner on Christmas day as usual. Then on the Saturday following, the 27th, at :30 @. m., Santa Claus himseif will appear and distribute the gifts from the Christmas tree made ready by the Young Ladles’ Auxil- “Rit are cordially invited to attend the exer- cises and to remain for the ladies’ luncheon, The Christmas celebration committee appeals with confidence to the generous public for help { one to be remembered. | Checks (peyable to the Infant Shelter), cash, | provisions, clothing, toys, will be received wit! | appreciation.
