A STIFF BREEZE it Upturns & Few Houses and Barog in South Omahs, But Does Little Damage of Ooneequence, Yesterday's Bek contained mention of the severs storm reported as having t ken place at Valparalso, and it ap- poars that a touch of the eame was e't by the citizons of South Omata. The residents of the southern por- tion of the clty felt some effoots of the atmospheric distarbance, telng vislted by a very heavy wiud about 6 o olock In the evening, The gale came up from the direction of Paptllion, ccossing the edge of the Drexel farm on {ts way and tearlog up a fow fences and pos's. It was trave'lug a little east of north aud was preceded by ourlous shaped, dark clouds, which seemed to bound iike a bali in Its progress. It pasred very close to the resl- dence of Mr. Sebastian Blumle, but missed it by about fifty feet and struck an out-house 10x10 feet in size and carried 1t into the brush about one hundred and fitty feet away, landing right side up with care. After leaving this place It jumped about & quarter or a half mile down aud struck Batton's place, on Twen. tleth and Dorcas streots, where It lifted the house and set 1t in a reverse posi‘ion on its foundation, i then hugged the ground and pa od down the alley, where 1t took a new barn fn its path and demolished it, while an old and rickety stable a lmla further on was loft untouched. Mr. N. N. Edwards’ place was in the path of the wind storm, and he was blown up against a tree and some what brulsed. At Dan O'Keofe's place the fencea were totally wrecked; a tree in his door-yard as Jarge as a man's body, was wrenched cff; the house was com- plotely borcft of ‘water plplug; a bar- rcl of water was taken vp and carrled three hundreds yards, and set down in safety; the well box, wetghivg 600 pounds, torn from its position, and carrled bodily away; and other dam- age done to outhouses and other ap- pendages. The next place in the wake was a frame cottage, situsted midway betwecn Haecall's park and the shot tower., Here alarge summor house was sproad out in the road, the outhouse wrecked and other damage done.
