With th there is not one bit of waste, The Hog Motor gives greater growth for the same feed and more pounds of pork from a bushel of grain, A SELF FEEDER The Hog Motor is also a self feeder where the hogs “are fed without waste, the grain ground without cost, . EVANS of Montana, defeated for renomina- tion at the recent pri- maries by Bruce Watson, Leaguer, gave a remark- able interview to political correspond- ents who accompanied Governor Cox, Demecratic candidate for president, on his recent western tour. joined the Cox party in Montana, ad- mitted that the program of the League was right and added of the Montana farmers and labor men, “If I were in" the same circumstances they are 1 would be one of them.” Only one of the dozens of papers which had representatives on Gover- nor Cox’s special train printed this in- terview. This was the Tacoma (Wash.) Ledger. ; Congressman Evans said in his in~ terview, as reported in the Ledger: “Naturally I might be expected to feel resentful toward the Nonpartisan leaguers who have put me out of con- gress, but I do not. On the contrary, I believe they are everlastingly right in carrying on this movement and that " there is abundant justification for the existence.of the National Nonpartisan league. “Persons who live in the eastern states have no conception at all of the hardships the farmers and laborers of this section of the country are having to endure. Three successive wheat crops have been failures. the farmers raised a little wheat. When the farmer takes his wheat to the elevator he has to accept whatever pay the elevator man gives him. The elevator man quite likely will grade his” wheat as No. 4 when both the farmer and the elevator man know that it really grades No. 2. The farm- er and his family have to live and they must have flour or they will starve. After selling his wheat for, say $2 a bushel, he turns right around and buys some flour for which the elevator man charges him at a rate that would be equivalent to $3 a bushel for wheat. LEAGUE WILL BRING RESULTS, SAYS EVANS “Or he may have a few hides for sale, He takes them to town and if he is lucky he gets $4 a hide for a good cattle hide. He turns around-to buy a much-needed pair of shoes and learns that he must pay $9 or $10. “Or, to cite another example;, we raise a good deal of wool in our state. The farmer will take to town for sale enough wool to make a good woolen suit of clothes and probably will get $2 for it. Being in need of clothes, he will step into a clothing store and will find the lowest price for which he can get a suit is $50. There is a differ- ence of $48 between the cost of the wool and the price of the suit, and yet the outrageous cost of clothing is palmed off on the high price of wool. "“This sort of thing has' been going on until the people ull through the Northwest are informed. I do not say that civilization is in danger of break- ing down, but it will come very nearly doing it unless a remedy is found. “The Nonpartisan league is voicing a protest that has to be voiced if civili- zation is to survive. The League is the outcropping of a spirit that somehow and sometime will get relief, or there will be serious times ahead for this nation. “Instead of feeling out of humor with the men who have defeated me, I am in thorough sympathy with their aims and aspirations, and if I were in the same circumstances they are I would be one of them.” PAGE FIFTEEN Evans, who - This year.
