Baer is the only Leader cartoonist ‘ who had a chance to draw a birthday cartoon for the Leader last year and this year also—the Leader only had Baer draw- ing for it a year ago, but now it has six eartoonists. Baer’s cartoon, printed in September, 1916, when the Leader was a year old, was in- corporated by Baer in the above drawing, which celebrates the second birthday of the paper. TFoss’ idea of the event which this issue cele- brates, appears as the cover of the Leader. Billican’s idea of the same event appears on another page. The success of the Leader as the official publication of the great farmers’ political and economic movement was immediate and striking. No other farm paper and no other political paper ever has marked more important history in two brief years of existence. The Leader was and breaking TO THE LEADER’S BIRTHDAY Jwo ears old the Record !
