It Was Only Smith’s Joke = Editor Nonpartisan Leader: As I came home from the legislature at Bismarck, where I was a represent- ative of Sheridan county, I noticed a copy of one of the Goodrich papers in which the representatives of the Non- partisan League were violently attack- ed on account of a resolution introduc- €d by Representative Smith of Kidder county, for the purpose of letting every member take his chair home with him, Mr. Smith was not a League member and being aware that he wouldn’t serve any more, he perpetrated that Joke. The enemies of the Nonpartisan League attacked me also on that ac- count and that paper directed its read- ers to watch when I came home to see whether I had my chair with me. It is not my intention to answer the writer of that article with the same rudeness as'he used, but I will only refer to the work of the legislators at Bismarck who stood honestly to the program of the Nonpartisan League. All what we did has been recorded at Bismarck and anyone who wants to convince himself may go down and look for it; or if any farmer brother wants to have some explanation of anything in that line, I will be glad to show him the facts of our doings there, I believe that we all who have been elected in the interest of the Nonparti- san lLeague, except of a few black sheep, served the farmers and the common people with the utmost dili- gence and honesty while the bankers helped themselves.with the assistance of some of their worthy lawyers. I might therefore call attention to our farmer brothers that.they ought not to look to-the smooth outside polish of a person, but to investigate the kernel of a matter. Those people . understand very well how to lie about us of the League, but they can not teach us our farming business, nor give us all our laws. We, the people of this state, know what we want, and intend to help make the laws. This is the foundation for which we are fight- ing. Therefore’let us follow this one aim and bring it to a successful finish. If I personally can help you in any- way 1 will endeavor to do so. At last many greetings to all. JOHN NATHAN Rally-Once Again Editor Nonpartisan Leader: I take note of so much regarding Bill 44 that I took time to study the principles it advocates and I find in- volved in it many good thoughts. Knowing that the hold-overs in the senate voted to‘lay 44 on the table, and that it is sure-to be considered again in the election and also at the next legislative meeting the thought, “Rally once again,” came to my mind and I could not ret:rain from attempting to convey some of the thoughts that come to me regarding the principles advo- cated in this great measure, Bill 44. I sure indorse Mr. Townley's state- ment of facts regarding the state of affairs that exists at present. The present conditions are such that I can- not see how an honest person at heart, either wealthy or poor, can say that Jjustice is given to all when some are enjoying, not only the necessaries of life, but the luxuries and needless ex- travagance. Yet we all together live in a land of plenty. Sure it does not become a civilized people to retard general prosperity. It has been thoroughly proven since the beginning of the Nonpartisan League, that there are some at least who have their privileges trodden under the feet of the money power, more worthy to go before the people as representatives than many who hold such a position now and step on the freedom of others with the foot of finances. This is equivalent to stepping on the good old stars and stripes. Oppression is sure to lead to degradation or, in the heart of courage, a revolution such as we are experiencing at present. I hope that the spirit of political revolutions will continue for it is the better way than that resorted to in, our neighbor nation, poor Mexico. —AN OBSERVER. “AGITATORS” DEMOCRACY’S PRIDE Lake Williams, 'N. D., March 25. Editor Nonpartisan’ Leader: J.et’s see! Previous to the develop- ment of this republic it was accepted - and regarded that the common people were an inferior breed, a coarse, hard life their choice and destiny. The aristocracy considered that out of its own class alone could come the brains and natures that could master the arts ADVERTISEMENTS Nuxated Iron Should Be Used in Every Hospital and Prescribed by Every Physician Says Dr. Howard James, late of the Manhattan State Hospital of New York and formerly Assistant : Physician Brooklyn State Hospital. It quickly enriches the blood, strengthens the nerves and puts most astonishing youthful power and vigor into the veins of both men and women. It often increases the strength and endurance of delicate, nervous, run-down folks 100 per cent in two \/veeks’ time, Opinions of Dr. Schuyler C. Jaques, Visiting Surgeon of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, New York, Dr. A. J. Newman, late Police Surgeo_n of the City of Chicago and former House Surgeon Jefferson Parlc Hospital, Chicago, and other physicians who have tested Nuxated Iron in their own private practice. In a very interesting and instructive dis- course on the great values of. plenty of iron in the blood, Dr. Howard James, late of the Manhattan State Hospital of New York and formerly Assistant Physician Brooklyn State Hospital, said: ‘A patient of mine remarked to me having been on a six weeks' course of Nuxated Iron), “‘Say, Doctor, that there stuff is like magic.’ “Previous to using Nuxated Iron, I had been prescribing the various mineral salts of iron for vears, only to meet complaints of discolored teeth, disturbed-digestion, tied up, hardened secretions, etc.,, when I came across Nuxated Iron, an elegant, ingenious preparation containing organic iron, which has no destructive action on the teeth—mo corrosive effect on. the stomach, and which is readily assimilated into the blood and quickly makes its presence felt by increased vigor,e snap and staying power. “Iron is absolutely neces- sary to enable your blood to change food into living tissue, Without it, no mat- ter how much or what you eat, your food merely passes through you without doing you any good. You don’t get the strength out of it, and . as a consequence Yyou be- come weak, pale and sickly looking, just like a plant trying to grow in-a soil de- ficient in iron. *‘As I have said a hundred times over, organic iron is the greatest of all strengtht builders. If people would only take Nuxated Iron when they feel weak or run down, instead of dosing themselves with habit-forming drugs, stimulants and alcoholic beverages, I am convinced that in this way the¥ could ward off disease, preventing it becoming organic in thousands of cases and there- by the lives of thousands might be saved who now die every year from pneumonia, grippe, kidney, liver, heart trouble and other dangerous maladies, The real and true cause which started their diseases was nothing more or less than a weakened condition brought on by a lack of iron in the blood.” “Thousands of people suffer from iron deficiency and do not know it. “If you are mnot strong or well, you owe it to yourself to make the fol- lowing test: See how long you 'can work or how far you can walk with- out becoming tired. Next take two five-grain tablets of Nuxated Iron three times per day after meals for two weeks. Then test your .strength again and see how much you have gained. From my own experience with Nuxated Iron I feel it is such a valu- able remedy that it should be kept in every hospital and prescribed by every physician in this country.” Dr. E. Sauer, a Boston physician, who has studied both in this country and great European medical institu- tions, was asked what he thought of Dr. James’ remarks. In reply, he said: “I fully agree with Dr. James. Peo- ple need more iron. There can be no strong, vigorous iron men and beau- tiful, healthy women without iron. Not (after Dr. Howard James, late of the Man- hattan State Hospital of New York and Jormerly Assistant Physician Brooklyn '} State Hospital tells physicians he lieves that more Nuzaied Iron should be prescribed to meet the great problem of iron deficiency with ils attendani symploms of weakness, mnervousness, lack of vitality, paleness, and generally rundown conditions. WARNS AGAINST USE OF ORDINARY MET- ALLIC IRON se commonly taken by mostpeople. long ago a man came to me who was nearly half a century old and asked me to give him a preliminary exami- nation for life insurance. I was' aston- ished to find him with the blood pres- sure of a boy of twenty, and as full of vigor, vim and vitality as a young man; in fact, a young man he really was notwithstanding his age. The secret, he said, was taking iron—Nux- ated Iron had filled him with renewed life, At 30, he was in bad health; at 46 he was careworn and nearly all _in— now at 50, after taking Nuxated Iron, a miracle of vitality and his face beaming with the buoyancy of youth.” Dr. A. J. Newman, late Police Surgeon of the city of Chicago and former House Surgeon, Jefferson Park Hospital, and sciences and to that class alone for ages, legislation with its attendant oratory seemed to be a heritage. The common people were not given opportunity to co-operate with them until they commenced to take to them- selves what they considered human rights. After fifty years of public schools it seems the old idea is not dispelled, for we find within the ‘bord- ers of this new state, considered among the most -typical of democratic states legislators who hide behind the skirts of Dame Aristocracy to evade debating an issue with men from the “lower walks of life” whom they know are their masters in the debating arena. These “agitators” from the “commeoen ranks” are part of the triumph of democracy. They are a ratification of the right of free speech. They are a living testimony to the correctness of those principles and a demonstration of the truth that the common people are a mine of undeveloped talent, ability and genius which, when set free and developed, will shame the old claim and the Old Guard with its brightness as the sun would shame a farthing candle. F.'J. SULLIVAN. For Quick Results Use “Classified” Ads. Chicago, in commenting ated Iron, said: through my own test of it to excel any prepara- tion I have ever used for creating red blood, building up the muscles and correcting digestive disorders, The manufacturers are to be congratulated in hav- ing given to the public a long-felt want, a true tonic supplying iron in an easily digested and assimilated form. A true health builder in every sense of the word.” Dr. Schuyler C, Jaques, Visiting Surgeon of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, New York, was also asked what he thought of Nuxated Iron. In reply Dr. Jaques said:_ on the value of Nux- “This remedy has proven nerves, strengthening the ‘I have never before given out any medical information or advice for publication, as I or- dinarily do not believe in it. But in the case of Nuxated Iron I feel I would be remiss in my duty not to mention it. I have taken it myself and given it to my patients with most surpris- ing and satisfactory results. And those who wish quickly to increase their strength, power and endurance will find it a most remarkable and wonder- fully effective remedy.” The next to be consulted was Dr. Ferdinand King, a New York Physician and Medical Author, who said: “I heartily concur in all that Dr. James has said, only in some respects I would go fur- ther. Dr. James forgot to men- tion how foods lose their iron value by improper methods of cookery, In the most common foods of America, the starches, sugars, table syrups, candies, - polished rice, white bread, soda crackers, Dbiscuits, macaroni, spaghatti tapioca, sago, farina, degerminated corn meal, no longer is iron to be found. Refining pro- cesses have removed the .jron of Mother Earth from these impoverished foods and silly methods of home cookery, by throwing down the waste-pipe the water in which our vegetables are cooked are responsible for another grave iron loss. Therefore, if you wish to preserve your youthful vim and vigor to a ripe age, you~ must supply the iron deficiency in your food by using some form of organic iron— Nuxated Iron—just as you would use ,sa.lt when your food has not enough salt.” NOTE—Nuxated Iron which is prescribed and recommended above by physicians in suqh a great variéty of cases is not a patent medi- cine nor secret remedy, but one which is well known to druggists and whose iron constitu- ents are widely prescribed by eminent physi- cians everywhere. Unlike the older inorganic iron products, it is easily assimilated, does not injure the teeth, make them black nor upset the stomach; on the contrary it is a most potent remedy in nearly all forms of indi- gestion, as well as for nervous, run-down con- ditions. The manufacturers have such great confidence in Nuxated Iron that they offer to forfeit $100.00 to any charitable institution if they cannot take any man or woman under 60 who lacks iron and increase their strength 100 per cent. or over in four weeks’ time pro- vided they have mno serious organic trouble. They also offer to refund your money if it does not at least double your strength and endur- ance in ten days‘ time. It is dispensed in this city by all good druggists. . _1\@ Livestock Grower!
