Keep Alive Traditions Of Glass Blowers’ Art The Venetian @lass Blowers who are giving exhibitjons of their work in the schools of this city during the present fortnight are two of the few surviving craftsmen of this type of artisan. Years ago glass blowers used to travel about, visit the vari- ous communities, and, from their tuhgs and rods of glass, fashion many beautiful and delicate objects such as birds of paradise, ships, and |’ deer. The trade is now passing al- most into oblivion, but the men now here are carrying on the tradition | ;| and are doing the type of work mentioned above. They also tell the story of glass. At every performance s exhibited the “spun glass dress® made from fine threads of glass woven cloth from which the garment §s made, The glpss blowers say that it is one of the finest examples of the glass makers' art in the world. As far as is kmown there is only one other like it in the world. That is in the I museum in Madrid, Spain.
