The first “Foremen’s Night” of the i season was attended by 350 men from | the factories who heard Mr. Petty of the Judson Memorial church of New York tell of his Americaniza- tion work. The Americanization com- mittee of the council has given ten different lectures, illustrated by lan- tern slides, in various places in the city. At the first meeting held in the Sacred Heart school 2,000 at- tended. The employed boys' committee got out 700 self analysis blanks to the boys in the factories and these are being analyzed by the advisory com- mittee with the idea of helping the boys secure training that will better | fit them for their work. Hartford, Dec. 14.—Five inmates of the Connectcut State Prison, among | them one woman, were pardoned by the State Board of Pardons at the semi-annual hearing yesterday at ‘Wethersfield. ‘hose pardoned are: Ciriaca Capobiiinca, 34 years old, sentenced in Waterbury on November 23, 1905, to death for murder in the first degree, but whose sentence was ]rommuled to life imprisonment on { June 5, 1906; Pasquale Calabrese, 46 vears old, sentenced in Bridgeport on December 19, 1901, to life imprison- ment for murder in the second degree; Americo Ginacola, 48 years old, sen- tenced in Bridgeport on October 6, 1910, 10 life improsonment for murder in second degree; Michael Rizzo, 25 vears old, sentenced in Bridgeport on December 5, 1916, for murder in the second degree, and Julia Dimock, 26 years old, convicted of theft in New Haven on October 28, 1919 and sen- | tenced for a period of from one and one-half to five years.
