Ellis, a Navy flier of 6-1 Poin- tiana Place awoke from a nap last August and found that. she was paralyzed to the extent that she could move nothing but her dig toe, it didn’t take Navy doc- ‘ors long to diagnose her case as che dreaded infantile paralysis. Her oarents, in addition to their con- zern about the safety of the seri- yusly ill child, also thought them- selves to be faced with a grave financial crisis because they knew that polio treatment is a long and expensive procedure. And that is where the Monroe Cotinty March of Dimes fund came into the picture. They have borne the complete cost of over a year of treatment for the tiny girl who was stricken with the dread disease in one of its most serious forms, but now, thanks to the best of care and treatment, she has pro- gressed to the point where she has a fine chance of living a healthy, happy. and normal life. That is why Lt. Ellis and Su- san presented treasurer Paul Sher of the local March of Dimes Fund with a check amounting to $100 this morning - they know what polio means to folks in ferms of suffering and expense, if they had to bear the cost of the treatment, it might well have placed them in a financial hole for years.
