The early service will begin at 8:30 a. m. ‘This early service was added to encourage more and regular church attendance. With two ser- vices it is believed that every member of the family will be able to attend the House of Wor- ship except for sickness, caring for the sick, or because of neces- sary work. The 8:30 a. m. service will be followed by the regular Sunday School and Bible Class hour. At 9:45 a. m. Sunday School classes are graded for children of all ages from 2 through high school. The adults are invited to attend the Bible Class. Sunday School and Bible Class will be followed by the regular Sunday morning 11:00 a. m. ser- vice. Holy communion will be celebrated ‘this Sunday in the 11:00 a, m. service, The pastor will address the members of Grace Lutheran on the topic: “Redeeming the Time,” using the words of St. Paul to the Ephesians, chapter 5, verses 15-17, as the basis for the medita- tion. It will be stressed that “time is a gift which God has given us. As Christian stewards God expects us to use the time We have most profitably, It is not eat that we may waste as e please. Our time belongs God and is to be used 10 carte out His purposes.” Friends and visitors are invited to worship with the members of Grace Lutheran at either of the two services. If someone has no church home in Key West, we invite them to come to Grace Lutheran and worship Jesus there, Promotion Day Is Set At Ley Memorial Sun. Seventy-Five Will Be Promoted In Church School Here Sunday Oétober 5, ig Promotion Day in the SUiday School at Ley Memorial Methodist Church, Trum- an Avenue and Georgia Street. On that day more than seventy-five children will be promoted to a more advanced class, and for the first time they will meet their new teachers. Promotion Day is always @ red- Ietter day in the Sunday School life of the youngster. It marks another step in what to them is a long journey toward becoming grown-ups, The parents should take note of this day and join in the enthusiasm of the children as they move up to a class for older and more advaneed students. The Church will observe World Wide Communion Day at the 7:30) evening worship service. This is a day set aside when Christians a- round the world will be holding services of Holy Communion. Ley Memorial Church will join in the Communion At Old Stone Chureh Service The First Methodist Church with thousands of Churches around the world will observe World Com- munion Sunday. For the past se- veral years it has been tne practice of a great many churches every- where to set aside the first Sunday in October as World Communion Sunday. At the morning service the min- ister’s sermon will be entitled JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR ME. Men are saved materially as they learn the laws that God has put in- to the world. This kind of salvation has come slowly and painfully. God has yet many richer, fuller bles- sings in store for his children when they will learn how to love each other and to treat each other 4s brethren, God’s ways are so far above our ways that we cannot fully under- stand them but we can know e- nough to experience his salvation from the evils that would make beasts of us. On this day all Christians are invited to a celebra- tion which means remembering the cost of being saved from lives of sin to lives of righteousness, Through no human being can ful- ly explain it God through Jesus Christ was reconciling the world unto Himself in and through the death of Jesus on the cross. One leader has explained it as God giving man a blood transfu- sion, Thus a sick diseased world has a chance at life in its fullness as God the Creator planned that it should be. At the morning worship service the choir under the direction of Mr. Wilbur Phipps will sing Green Cathedral - Hahn. And in the eve- ning the anthem will be Teach Me O Lord - Cole, At the evening service the Holy Communion of the Lord’s Supper will be administered. Worshippers will be asked to leave a love offer- ing on the alter to help relieve the suffering of the world. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and min- istered unto them” (Matt. 8:14-15). Correlative passages from “Sci- ence and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy include: “Mortal mind is constant- ly producing on mortal body the results of false opinions; and it will continue to do so, until mortal error is deprived of its imaginary Powers by Truth, which sweeps aWay the gossamer web of mortal illusion” (p. 403), Cabot’s Wife Is Progressing HOLLYWOOD (#~Actor Bruce Cabot’s estranged wife, Francesca de Scaffa, was progressing satis- factorily today after a series of blood transfusions following the birth of a daughter. Each Sunday evening there will be a picture story on the life of St. Paul. Next Sunday at 7:30 P.M. the trail of Stephen will be given which shows the genuine Christian spirit of the ehurch’s first martyr. Stephen was one of the original deacons of the church appointed to distribute alms to the Hellenist widows and the success of his evangelistic work was shown in the many miracles he performed. This led to false accusation of blasph- emy and an illegal trial. His death led to a persecution and the dis- persal of the disciples from Jerus- alem carried the gospel to many lands, The most prominent fruit of the martyrdom was the conver- sion of Saul of Tarsus. Stephen’s prayer, “Lord do not hold this sin against them” was the thorn that disturbed Paul throughout his life. At the morning service beginning at 11 o'clock Holy Communion will be observed since it is World-Wide Communion Sunday. The Pastor will preach on “Precious Fellow- ship.” There is something serious- ly wrong with the individual who chooses to be and live to himself. We like good company and to be good it should be congenial, people with kindred spirits and interests. Christians have always found in- spiration and strength from fellow- ship with those of like mind. The rapid growth and strength of the Church has been due largely to | the encouragement found in a com- mon and worthy cause. ‘The Apostle John had observed at close range the perfidy and treach- ery of human nature.
