Total net income of the Potomac Electric Power Co. turned upward materially in March, reaching $385,- 704.65, as compared with $344,667.51 a year ago, an increase of $41,037.14, or 1191 per cent, according to the monthly statement just filed with the Public Utilities Commission. Operating: revenues amounted to $1,402,029.92, an increase of $115- 126.83, or 8.95 per cent: operating revenue deductions for expenses re- quired $908,127.67, a rise of $66,- 825.32, or 7.94 per cent, leaving net upemtmg revenues of $493,902.25, which was $48.301.51 more than last year and a gain of 10.84 per cent. Income deductions for bond interest payments totaled $108,410.60, the re- port disclosed. Potomac Power reported for the first quarter of 1940 a net income of $1119,068.53, as compared with $1,140,469.35 in the like 1939 period. a decrease of $21400.82, or 1.88 per | cent. Operating reyenues during | the period totaled $4,230440, up | $291.417.29, or 7.40 per cent. Operating revenue deductions for expenses took $2,781.382.17, which was $285.337.23, or 1143 per cent, more than a year ago. This left net operating revenues of $1449,.- 057.83, up $6.080.06, from the first| three months in 1939. While ex-| penses are still heavy, the splendld March showing almost pushed net | earnings ahead of the first quarter & year ago, the report revealed. ] D. C. Store Sales Jump.
