Notes From the Social Calendar of Washin News Notes of the Official -And Diplomatic Sets In the Capital Venezuelan Ambassador Sails; Netherlands Minister Dinner Host; Rumanian Minister Entertains The Venezuelan Ambassador, Senor Dr. Don Diogenes Escalante, will sail today for his'ome in South America for 10 weeks’ leave, and during his absence Senora de Escalante and their daughter will remain at the Embassy on Massachusetts avenue. The Counselor of the Embassy, Senor Dr. Don Jacinto Fambona- Pachano, will be charge d'affaires during the Ambassador’s absence. The Japanese Ambassador and Mme. Horinouchi and Mr. Justice Frank Murphy were honor guests when the Netherlands Minister and Mme. Loudon were hosts at dinner last evening at the Legation. The Rumanian Minister and Mme. Irimescu, who were dinner hosts last evening at the legation, will entertain again tomorrow evening. The Minister and Mme. Irimescu have just returned from New York, where they spent a short time. While there they were dinner guests of Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler, president of Columbia University, and Mrs. Butler. The Minister of Yugoslavia and Mme. Fotitch entertained at dinner last evening in honor of the former Swiss Minister and Mme. Peter. The Turkish Ambassader and Mme. Ertegun were the ranking guests. Later in the evening a number of other guests joined the party. Mrs. Felix Frankfurter, wife of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, was the guest in whose honor Mrs. George Rublee entertained at luncheon yesterday. Others in the small company were Mrs. Henry F. Grady, Mrs. Donald Richberg, Mrs. Edward Burling, Mrs. Charles M, Lea, Countess Marguerite Cassini, Mrs. Minnie Mae Fleming and Mrs. J. Fred Essary. Mrs. Arthur H. Vandenberg, wife of Senator Vandenberg, is in New York, where she is spending a few days with the Senator’s son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pfeiffer. Mrs. Pfeiffer is the former Miss Betty Vandenberg. Senator Vandenberg expects to join Mrs. Vandenberg tomorrow for the week end and to return with her Sunday evening. Maj. Gen. and Mrs. Albert Cox were hosts at dinner last evening, en- tertaining in honor of Gen. and Mrs Albert Bowley of Virginia, who are spending several days with them. Others at dinner were Maj.
