PROVIDENCE. R. I, July 27.—A collie that could find its way home on water as well as on land, swam 73 miles in Narragansett Bay last night and reached shore yesterday at the Washington Park Yacht Club 15 hours after it had been lost overboatd from its master's boat. ‘The collie sailed with George Cour- tot, his master, who, with a party, went to Prudence Island in the middle of the bay. The boat was about 52 miles from the island, when the pet was missed. The waters there were searched with- out success. Yesterday Charles Cotton, care- taker at the yacht club, hearing whines on the club float, went to investigate and discovered the collie, dripping and exhausted. —_— Labor troubles in the United Slates are reported to have affected the stock market, in Japan. Heavy damage was done in Kyushu, southwestern island of Japan, where 5,000 houses were partly flooded and embankments and roads washed away.
