The weather, L] though very warm, was ideal for 25 b . garden fetes and the party was largely attended, many going early to play bridge under the lovely old trees. Additional guests arrived for tea and the brief program of entertainment and Mrs. Davis received the guests, assisted by Mrs. Grant Cantacuzene, recently elected president of the league. Mrs. Davis wore a becoming garden frock of figured chiffon and Mrs. Cantacuzene was in white with green accessories. Mrs. Warren R. Austin, who was chairman of the fete, was in figured crepe in shades of | pink and blue, with which she wore | & picture hat of pink. | Mrs. Edward Everett Gann, sister | of the late Vice President Curtis, was among those at the party, one of the first she has attended since the sud- den death of Mr. Gann, which fol- lowed so closely the death of former ‘Vice President Curtis. She wore black lace and a wide-brimmed black hat. Following the bridge game refresh- ments were served on the lawn and many enjoved the brief program of entertainment given by Miss Marion Venable and Mr. Paul Fox, who danced a lovely waltz on the lawn, accom- panied by Mrs, Sylvia Kaplowitz, who played the accordion.
