FINANCIAL. INDUSTRIALS UP ON GURB MARKET Technicolor Climbs More Than 2 Points—Others Gain Fractions. By the Assoctated Press. NEW YORK, May 17.—Industrial shares for the most part edged higher today in slow trading on the Curb Exchange. Technicolor held an advance of more than 2 points in late trading after announcement over the week end a leading Hollywood producer planned to concentrate on color films. Up fractionally were American Cy- anamid “B,” Creole Petroleum, Gulf Oil. Wayne Pump and Pantepec Oil. Crocker Wheeler and Humble Oil were up a point or so. Utility shares remained in a narrow range. The first quarter report of the Pennsylvania Railroad showed net income of $5,148,165, equal to 39 cents & share on the capital stock, against $2,359,564, or 18 cents a share, in the first quarter last year. Union Pacific. Union Pacific Railroad system re- ported March quarter net income of $1,083,458, equal to 4 cents a share on the common stock, compared with $1,221,030, or 10 cents a share, in the first quarter, 1936. Reading Co. Reading Co. reported for the March quarter net income of $2,049,796, equal after preferred dividends to 96 cents a common share. By the Associated Press. The National Lumber Manufac- turers’ Association reported today the lumber industry operated at 74 per cent of the 1929 weekly production average during the week snded May 8. Shipments were 71 per cent of that average. Both production and ship- ments were lower than the previous week.
