The time should never arrive when all public health services would be taken over by the Government, Dr. ‘Thomas Parran, surgeon general of the United States Public Health Serv- 1ce, told the Instmctive Visiting Nurse Society at a luncheon meeting in Bark- er Hall, Y. W. C. A, yesterday. “Organizations such as your So- ciety have a distinct place in the health service,” he stated, “and there should | be a co-operation between them and Government services.” | Dr. Parran believes public interest | in health work is increasing because of the expansion of health education. Public health nursing in a large meas- ure is responsible for this expansion, he commented. He was high in his praise of the work of the Instructive Visiting Nurse Society and added that it will take| years of work on the part of such or-| zanizations to elevate Washington to | the level of the average American | city in regard to a lower infant| mortality and a more thoroughly or- ganized fight against disease. “The Richer, Sweeter Loaf” - ALWAYS FRESH 9: ; BUTTER PRICES ARE DOWN!
