MISSON 10 FEED TONEEDY N Thanksgiving Day Meals to Be Provided Out of Annual Budget. The Central Union Mission is mak- ing plans to feed 700 needy men free dinners Thanksgiving day in the din- ing room of its building at 613 C| street. [Each one will be given an abundant meal, consisting of meat loaf and other edibles, John S. Bennett, the superintendent, announced. Funds for the meal are to come out of the mission’s annual budget of $36,- 460, for which an appeal is to be launched next week. Boys and girls in the mission’s Chil- dren’s Emergency Home will be given turkey dinners Thanksgiving day. The home takes care of emergency cases, such as a child whose home sud- denly is broken up through illness or death in a family. The home cares for children between the ages of 2 and 12 years. Among those being cared for now is a child in whose family there are four other children and whose mother recently died, while the father is unable to obtain work. Another child whose mother is addicted to drugs is being cared for. ‘When an emergency continues and + the family is unable to re-establish a suitable home for a child, the mission | helps place the boy or girl in a church | home or other permanent institution, where the care is continued. In a recent appeal for overcoats, sweaters and other warm clothing, the mission received enough to clothe 183 men, Bennett announced. Several per- sons, who had no second-hand clothing to give, bought new sweaters and other articles and sent them to the mission. Bennett hopes to receive additional clothing before bitter cold weather sets in. Approximately 1,300 “victims of circumstances” will be in need of clothing from the mission during the Winter, he said. The mission will call for any clothing any one wants to give.
