CHURCH LOYALTY MEETING PLANNED Roper to Be Main Speaker « at Constitution Hall September 29. Plans for the second annual mass meeting in the interest of religion and chutrch loyalty, sponsored by the Com- mittee on Religious Life in the Na- tion's Capital, were announced yes- terday. Secretary of Commerce Daniel C. Roper, representing the Government, will- be the principal speaker of the occesion, scheduled for Constitution Hall, Tuesday evening, September 29. Other- addresses are to-be delivered by Right Rev. James E. Freeman, Bishop of Washington; Rev. Dr. Joseph R. Sizoo, former pastor of the Néw York Avenue Presbyterian Church, now minister of the Col- legiate Church of St. Nicholas, New York City; Rev. Father John K. Cartwright, pastor of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, and Rab- bi Morris §. Lazaron, minister of the Hebrew Congregation of Baltimore. Prayer by Rev. Mr. Duff. The opening prayer will be offered | by Rev. Edward A. Duff, chief of | Chaplains Division, United States Navy, and the benediction will be given by Rev. Dr. William F. Mc- Dowell, Bishop of the Methodist Epis- copal Church, Washington district. Rev. Dr. Edgar A. Love, president of the Interdenominational Ministers’ Alliance, has accepted the commit- tee’s invitation to read the scriptures. The sacred musical program for the meeting will include selections by the United States Army Band, Capt. Robert Darcy conducting, and the &inging of anthems by the choristers of Immaculate Conception School, the ‘Washington Hebrew Congregation Quartet, led by Lewis Atwater, and the National Capital Choir of the Universalist National Memorial Church, directed by Dr. Albert W. Harned. Miss Helen Howison, so- prano in the Covenant-First Presby- terian Church choir, will be a solist. Bishop Freeman, as chairman of the committee, will preside, and a brief statement of the committee’s plans | and purposes will be read by Rev. Dr. Anson Phelps Stokes, former secre- tary of Yale University, now canon residentiary at Washington Cathedral, in his capacity as secretary of the | committee. Other members on the platform will be Rev. Albert J. Mc- Cartney, Rev. Russell J. Clinchy, treas- urer, and Rabbi Abram Simon. 45 Ministers in Committee. “The committee,” Dr. Stokes ex- plained last night, “includes 45 minis- | ters of religion, representing 22 de- nominations, united to promote church | attendance and the common cause of religion, apart from any particular tenets or forms of worship. FIFTH SILVER STAR HOME OPEN TODAY New England Colonial House to Be on Exhibition for 30 Days. An attractive dwelling of New Eng- land Colonial design will be opened to the public today at 6634 Barnaby |- street, as the fifth Silver Star home of 1936. The home will remain on exhibition for 30 days under sponsor- ship of The Star. Located in the new Barnaby Woods section of Chevy Chase, D. C., the house was built by Claude G. John- son, builder, and is presented through Edward H. Jones & Co., Inc. Harvey P. Baxter, well-known architect, de- signed it, while it was decorated and furnished by Horace Dulin, Inc. There are seven rooms, including three bed rooms, two baths and a lav- atory, in the structure. It is built of brick painted white, and occupies a large, heavily wooded lot. The new Star home carries the unanimous indorsement of the five housing experts who compose the Sil- ver Star Homes Committee. James S.
