By a Btaff Correspondent of The Star. ALEXANDRIA, Va., November 25.— Funeral services for James R. Mans- fleld, 63, deputy collector of customs here 19 years, who died Saturday night at the Alexandria Hospital, will be neld at 2 p.m. tomorrow at his late Tesidence, 118 Myrtle street. His death was brought on by a stroke of paralysis suffered earlier Sat- urday while at work in his office at the Alexandria Post Office Building. Mr. Mansfield was State secretary of the Grand Council, Order of Fraternal Americans, and had been recording secretary of the Alexandria council of the order 45 years. He also was & past officer of the Potomac Lodge of 0Odd Fellows and the Royal Arcanum and a member of the Alexandria Order of Red Men. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Anna Es- telle Mansfield; a son, Detective Sergt. A. Dowell Mansfield of the Metropoli- tan Police Department, and a daugh- ter, Mrs. George E. Pettit, of Chester- field, N. J. The funeral will be con- ducted by Rev. Plerce S. SILVER SPRING, Md., November 25, —Stricken with a heart attack yester- day morning while preparing to go to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, William Oscar Peter, 59, died at his home at 810 Thayer avenue without regaining consciousness. Born in Colesville, Md., Mr. Peter was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. He was a charter member of Forest Glen Council, Knights of Co- lumbus, and a former officer of that group. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Michael's Church. At the time of his death he was employed as a carpenter at Wal- ter Reed Hospital. Surviving- are his widow, Mrs. Ida May Peter; five sons, William Oscar, jr.; Leroy Francis, George, William Michael and Charles Edward Peter of this place; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Nicholson, also of Silver Spring; three stepdaughters, Mrs. L. F. Kuhlman of Johnstown, Pa.; Mrs. B. F. Keeney of Washington and Mrs. Charles W, ‘Teske of Berwyn, Md. Five brothers, Michael Peter, jr., of Fairfax, Va.; George, Edward A. and Joseph N, Peter (f Colesville, and Walter C. Peter of Four Corners, Md., and four sisters, Mrs. Barbara Burroughs, Da- mascus, Md.; Mrs. Elizabeth Bowman, Norbeck, Md.; Mrs. Thomas Linnane of Washington, and Mrs. Rose Veitch of Colesville also survive. Mrs. Markey, who was 52, was a na- tive of Frederick and s daughter of the late Lorenzo E. Mullinix, who served on the Board of Aldermen many years. She was a graduate of Hood College, president of the Alumni Association, and was the first alumna to serve on the Board of Directors of the institution. She filled this post for 6 years. Her death came Saturday after an iliness of about three years. The fu- neral services will be held at 3 o'clock at the home, and she will be burried in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
