Plans Is Located in Rollingwood. ‘Thousands of visitors have thronged the “New American Home” in Rol- lingwood since it was opened last | week under sponsorship of the Gen- eral Electric Co., and Waverly Taylor Inc., builder. The home was praised by the public as well as leading Wash- ington realtors who inspected it. ‘The dwelling is one of several hun- dred which G. It has been furnished by ‘Woodward & Lothrop. Rollingwood, one of the newer de- | velopments in suburban Washington, is just across the District lme in Maryland, overlooking and adjoining Rock Creek Park. The site selected for the “New American Home"” is on | the corner of two winding streets, Rolling road and Vale street. On a slight eminence above the street grade, the house nestles securely among the oaks, beeches, dogwoods and poplars that tower above it. | In keeping with this rustic setting, | the architects, Waverly Taylor and J. F. Hogan, have chosen a modern adaptation of Norman architecture, blending walls of painted brick and half timbered gables of unpainted brick panels with a roof of dark red antique tiles, simulating “old hand- made shingles. The exterior timbering and porch woodwork is hand adzed and stained a dark maroon, with the | entrance door and window shutters contrasted with a livlier red.
