At the same time the Department of Commerce's Lighthouse Service announced that it is establishing in the near future ten new radio beacons in American waters, which will bring | up the present 108 radio beacons in operation to a total of 118. The new lighthouses and lightships on which the radio beacons are to be installed include the Capa Arago. Oreg., lighthouse, the Minneapolis Shoal and Green Bay lighthouses, to be opened for use next Spring; aix lightships in Nantucket and Long Island Sounds and one lightship at| Heald Bank, Gulf of Mexico. The agreement between the United States and Canada comprised the co- ordination of frequency assignments, time cycle of operation, identification characteristics, distance finding syn- chronization, power ratings and ranges and geographical distributions of long-range stations to effect full coverage of coasts so that mariners will find their navigation problems greatly minimized through reduction of confusion and interference in the radio beatons’ operation. * x x % THE Corn Cob Pipe Club will return to N.
