FOXHALL CITIZENS HEAR BUS CRITIC Committee Report Charges Service Is Ineffective and Discriminatory. A letter drafted by Edwin C. Reed, thairman of the Public Utilities Com= wmittee of the Foxhall Community Citizens' Association, charging that the busses of the Foxhall Village- Potomac Heights route are overcrowd- od and generally ineffective, was read st & meeting of the association last night. An amended copy was ordered sent to the Public Utilities Commission and the Capital Transit Co. Reed cited many instances in which, he said, commuters were left on the street corners as bus after bus went by, filled to capacity. The assocla- tion hopes to have the inspector at the terminal given authority to change the bus designation of some of the Bur- leith-Glover Park busses to that of Foxhall Village-Potomac Heights to alleviate the situation. Another request was made concern- ing the 10-cent fare, saying this is not consistent with the fare for the Bur- leith-Glover Park community, which has the privilege of buying six tokens for 50 cents. A committee was selected to repre- sent the association at a hearing of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board next week. The association is con- cerned with the application of a tavern, located at Conduit and Foxhall roads, for a hard-liquor license. At present the tavern is permitted to sell light wines and beer. It is expected that the group will contest the appli- cation on the ground the tavern is in a residential zone. A motion was passed requesting that all overhead wires and poles be re- moved, on Foxhall road and an under- ground conduit system be substituted. ‘The District Highway Department will be asked to resurface the alley running from Forty-fourth street to Foxhall road and Gregnwich parkway to Q street.
