QUANTICO, Va, August 17.—In spite of the intense Summer heat there have been many activities both official and social during the week. Thursday afternoon the Fleet Marine Force gave a sunset parade im honor | of Maj. Gen. C. H. Lyman. Thurs- | day morning Gen. Lyman reviewed the Platoon Leaders' Class which is on the post for six weeks' Summer | training. The Commanding Gen. and Mrs C. H. Lyman were hosts last Monday at luncheon to Col. and Mrs. J. J. Meade of Washington. Col. Meade is to report here within the next few weeks to assume command of the| 1st Brigade of the Fleet Marine Force. | Saturday Maj. Gen. and Mrs. Ly- | man and a party including Capt. and Mrs. W. L. Mann, jr.; Col. and Mrs. C. F. B. Price, Lieut. Col. and Mrs. H. L. Parsons, Comdr. and Mrs T. C. | Anderson, Lieut. The party is being exten- sively entertained by various Govern- ment officials and others during the trip. Their first scheduled stop is with the Covernor General of Canada, after which they will be guests at receptions given by the Governors of California and Arkansas. Through the countesy of Secretaries Ickes and Wallace, the party will visit many of the P. W. A. and C. C. C. projects in the West. A short trip to Mexico will complete the journey, which will end about September 15. Mr. Raymond Ervin of Atlanta, Ga,, son of Dr, and Mrs. J. Dallas Ervin, Franklin street, is home on vacation.
