TURNBURKE TO BE BURIED HER Rites This Afternoon for Former Resident Stricken on Visit From Florida. Funeral services for George W. ‘Turnburke, 79, a resident of the Dis- trict more than 50 years, were to be held at 2 pm. today from the 8. H. Hines Funeral Home, 2801 Fourteenth street. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Mr. Turnburke, who lived in Clear- water, Fla., the last 20 years, was visiting friends here when stricken with a gall bladder disorder. He died Tuesday, soon after an operation. Born in Washington, Mr. Turnburke was a painting contractor here. His father, George Turnburke, was simi- larly employed before the Civil War. DALLAS, Tex, August 8 ().— Edward Homer Jones, 61, until the Fall of 1933, head of the mathematics department of Southen Methodist University, died yesterday of a brain disease in the county jail He was adjudged insane in Lunacy Court last Friday. Jones joined the Southern Methodist | teg! faculty when the university was opened in 1915. He held degrees from the University of Texas and Harvard.
