Two Youths to Enter Wilds For 30 Days on $200 Wager By the Associated Press. TACOMA, Wash,, August 8—On a | am $200 bet, two Tacoma youths are going into the wilds of the Olympia Moun- tains to live 30 days with only a fish- ing line, a hunting knife and a cigar- ette lighter with which to light their fires. The two, Tom Vitos, 23, and Graham Ring, 19, planned to be in the wilder- ness tonight. They will leave dis- carded clothing with friends at the last outpost of civilization, wearing only gym shoes and trunks into the forest. Their stunt came about through an argument in a store operated by Wil- Rast. “I'll bet you $200 & man can go into the woods with a fish line and a hunting knife and live for at least a month,” said Vitos. “All right,” said Rast, “the bet is on. If you have to come out of the woods before September 7 then you can spend 100 days at hard labor help- ing me build my house at Day Island. If you win I'll pay you the $200.” ‘The youths, hard as nails, will try their back-to-nature experiment in the wilderness west of Lake Cushman. Much of this region is so wild it has never been surveyed. 27227777 WEEK-END SPECIALS! Nut Roll 39c Ib. Regular 60c variety. LONDON, August 8 —Siam's former monarch, Prajadhipok, severed all connections with his one-time king- dom when he abdicated and took up permanent resdence on an English country estate, his secretary, Arajun, said today. ‘The former ruler no longer has any interests in Siam, the secretary said, receives no,reports on the situation from Bangkok and knows only what | he reads in newspapers. “I am sure that the latest revolu- tionary plot was not directed against the new King and the regency,” he said, “but against the government formed by a group calling themselves the People’s party.” Siamese government action was re- ported from Bangkok to have appar- ently frustrated yesterday an insurrec- ticnary plot among the defense forces, aimed at overthrow of the govern- ment. Prajedhipok’s nephew and suc- cessor, 11-year-old Ananda, ic at a pri- vate school in Lausanne, Switzerland. | A. B. C. GROUP RESIGNS Powerful Cuban Organization Said to Have Collapsed.
