MISS M. E. WIMER DIES IN BAY STATE Central High School Teacher 25 Years Succumbs at Gloucester, Mass. Miss Martha E. Wimer, 67, for more than 25 years a teacher at Central W. & J. Special Dispatch to The Star, HYATTSVILLE, Md., August 7.— Park Policeman John P. Stedehouder, 64, a Spanish-American War veteran, of 71 Shepherd street, died in Mount Alto Hospital, Washington, yesterday of heart trouble. Born in Holland, he came to this country when 19 years of age, after 21 years’ service in Dutch Guiana as a soldier. He first settled in Jowa, working on a cattle ranch and later driving a mail stage coach. He joined the United States Army at Fort Sheridan, Il was sent to the Philippines and saw service in China during the Boxer rebellion. After being promoted to the rank of master sergeant he left the Army 23 years ago. Since that time he has resided in Hyattsville and vicinity. Before be- coming a member of the park police force he worked as a guard at the Smithsonian Institution and as a printer at the Bureau of Engraving. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Hannah E. Bell of Chi- cago, and & son, Joshua Stendehouder, of Washington. Mrs. Elizabeth MacDonald, promi- nent member of Washington clubs and the wife of Thomas H. MacDonald, chief of the United States Bureau of Public Roads, died yesterday at her residence, 4911 Moorland lane, Bat- tery Fark, Md, after an illness of two years. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but it is expected that burial will be near her birthplace in Towa. Mrs. MacDonald came to Washing- ton in 1918, when Mr. MacDonald was appointed to the roads bureau position. Prior to her marriage in 1906, she had taught school near her birthplace at Boone, Iowa, and served as secretary to the dean of the Engi- neering College of Iowa State Uni- versity, Ames. In Washington, Mrs. MacDonald was a member of the Women's Club of Chevy Chase and of Chapter B & the P. E. O., National Women’s Secret Society. She was an officer of the Bethesda Garden Club.
