FIN BONDS ARE DULL ATSTEADY LEVELS Small Gains and Losses About Even—Most Util- ities Unchanged. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, August 7—Trading in bonds was uneventful on the New York Stock Exchange today. Steadi- ness prevailed in most sections, and small gains and small losses about off- set one another. Among the industrials, most were unchanged, although Chile Copper 5s rose slightly to close at 96% and Penn Dixie 6s braced up to 92%. The majority of utilities came down the home stretch unchanged after modest rises earlier in the session. ‘Western Union 4'is advanced a full point to 98. North American Edison 528 were a little lower at 10132 Government bonds were steady. General Electric Bids in Part of Insull Collateral By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, August 7.—Corporate earnings reports made public today included: Philadelphia & Reading “oal Iron Corp. and subsidiaries, for 12 months ended June 30, net losscs of $5,021,242, after charges, compared with a pet profit of $9,638, cqual to less than 1 cent a share of capital stock in the previous year. Ohio Oil Co. and subsidiaries, for 6 months ended June 30, net profit of $2,34,804, equal to 10 cents a com- mon share against $3,406,358 or 26 cents a share in the corresponding period of 1934. American Water Works & Electric Co,, Inc., and subsidiaries earned 87 cents a share on the common stock against $1.38 a common share in pre- ceding 12 months. Surplus after charges amounted to $2,713,400, com- pared with $3,607.140 last year. Sterling Products, Inc, and sub- 1 equal to $2.70 a share of $10 par value | stock, against $5,037011, or $2.87 a share, in the first half of 1934. Eastman Kodak Co. net income of June 15. This was equal to $3.05 a common share and compared with $6,- 745,676, or $2.91 a share in the cor- responding period of 1934. COURT ORDER TO SPUR REORGANIZATION PLAN By the Associated Press. CHICAGO, August 7.—The Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway Co. yesterday was ordered by Federal Judge James H. Wilkerson to show causé by September 17 why it should not present a plan of reorgafiization to the Interstate Commerce Commis- sion. The rallroad has been under jurisdiction of the Federal Court since July 7, 1833, when it filed a voluntary reorganization petition under section 77 of the amended bankruptcy law. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, August 7-—The Asso- clated Press adjusted weekly index of electric power production attained the highest point last week since the second week of February, 1930. Advancing three-tenths of a per- centage point, the index reached 101.7 for the week ended August 3, com- pared with 101.4 for the previous week and 96.2 for the similar week of 1934. The index, based on 1029-30 as 100, is adjusted for seasonal and long- term trends.
