American Institute of Bank- ing, a good delegation of Washington's junior bankers will attend the thirty-third an- nual convention of the national organization in Omaha, Nebr., in session there June 10 to 15 The complete program has just been announced and includes dis- cussions on pres- ent day banking problems, ad- dresses by promi- nent bankers, in- ciuding President R. S. Hecht of the American Bankers' Association. on “The Bankers' Future” and the usual | national public speaking contest. Charles F. Ellery. national presi- Richard W. Hill, national secre- 7, and Harold Stonier, educational director, are slated for important ad- | cresses. All these officers are well| known to members of Washington Chapter. Many department conferences are | on the program. Chapter administra- t:on conferences will be of special im- | portance. The election of officers will take place on the closing day. Robert V. Fleming will represent the American Bankers' Association at the annual convention of the Indiana Bankers' Association late this week. His address will follow the general lines of his recent talks before Wash- ington bankers at Hot Springs and New Jersey bankers at Atlantic City. Representative Steagall, chairman of the House Committee on Banking: leo T. Crowley, chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., and President Hecht of the A. A. A. are on the program of the Iowa State ‘Bankers' Association now in session in Des Moines. Marriner S. Eccles, governor of the Federal Reserve Board, may attend the forthcoming convention of the New York State Bankers' Association at Lake George June 8-10, and pre- sent his point of view on the banking act of 1935, the controversial parts of which are sponsored by him. He has promised to make every effort to attend and. if unable to do so, he will send another official of the Re- gerve Board to speak for him. The opposite side of the question will be argued by Dr. H. Parker Willis, professor of banking at Columbia Uni- versity and former secretary of the Federal Reserve Board. Gov. Eccles is slated to speak at the opening &ession on Saturday morning. Transit Stock Again Higher. Capital Transit Co. stock gained an- other half point on the Washington Etock Exchange today, several lots gelling at 19'2. It closed with 19'2 bid and 20 asked. Today's trading was confined wholly to stocks. Potomac Electric Power 6 per cent preferred came out at 1087, edvanced to 109 and closed at 109%;. The same corporation’s 5!2 per cent preferred moved at 113'z. Peoples Drug Stores preferred is now being quoted exdividend. It is reported that Baltimore clear- ings during May totaled $248.821.039, which compared with $235,015,570 in May, 1934. Clearing for the first five months of 1935 aggregated $1152,- 751,748, against $1,066,157,267 in the like period of the preceding year. The Radio Corp. and its wholly cwned companies are continuing the same hours and wage scales as were in effect under the N. R. A. codes. — o B. & 0.
