NEW YORK, April 24—Curb trad- ers continued to favor metal shares and specialties in the late trading to- day. The general list showed a num- ber of fractional recessions, occa- sioned by realizing. Early gains were held and in some cases enlarged in A. O. Smith, United Shoe Machinery, Sunshine Mining, New York & Honduras Rosario, Bun- ker Hill & Sullivan, Babcock & Wil- cox and Greyhound. NEW YORK, April 24—Bar silver in world markets pushed above the United States Treasury’s price to do- leading Wall Street to look for an early announce- ment of an advance in the Treasury's price. In New York foreign silver for com- mercial use rose 1% cents to 71% cents an ounce, compared with the Treasury price fixed a fortnight ago of 71.11 cents. This followed a rise in London to the equivalent of 171.67 cents. In both London and New York prices reached the m:hm levels in 10 years. While information as to the Treas- ury’s intention was not immediately | busin forthcoming, Wall Street silver quar- ters sald the Treasury would have to keep its price up to or above the world price if it wished to get the domestic production. NEW YORK, April 24—Electric power output for the week ended April 20 was reported today by the Edison Electric Institute at 1,701,945,000 kilo- watt hours, a gain of 1.7 per cent over the comparable week of 1934. Production in the previous week was 1,725,352,000 kilowatt hours, an ';ll:::llt of 5.1 per cent over the 1934 Two sections of the United States showed losses last week from the 1934 week. New England lost 0.3 per cent and the Pacific Coasl section was down 12.3 per cent. Gains were registered in other sec- tions: Middle Atlantic, 4.3 per cent; central industrial, 5.3 per cent; West central, 3.3 per cent; Southern States, 6.1 per cent, and Rocky Mountain section, 13.8 per cent.
