BY EDWARD C. STONE. Francis G. Addison, jr., president of the Security Savings & Commercial Bank, and his associates among the officers and directors were receiving congratulations today as the in- stitution started the first business day of its twenty- third year. The present bank, located at Ninth and G streets, opened for business at another site on April 7, 1913. On that memorable opening day de- | posits totaled $32,226.32, while the recent con- troller’s call of March 4, this year, revealed deposits of $5,554,789.86, showing steady, sound and gratifying growth during the years. Julius I. Peyser, the first presicent, js now chairman of the board of directors. Mr. Addison, who has been president of the bank for sev- eral years, is a former president of the District Bankers' Association, is now chairman of the association’s Committee on Law and Legislation | and in the past has represented the local organization in the councils of the American Bankers' Association. He is a leader in the work of the Better Business Bureau and is one of the guiding spirits in the Washington campaign for home renovations and improvements. The other officers include Fred | McKee, vice president; Samuel R. Baulsir, cashier: T. Hunton Leith, sec- retary and assistant cashier; Latrobe Owen, assistant cashier; L. Louis Shipley, assistant cashier, and Charles | R. Kent, branch manager. The present beard of directors is composed of: | Francis G. Addison, jr.; Dion S. Birney, Frarcis A. Blundon, Diller F. Groff, Benjamin H. Gruver, John B. Harrell, George E. Judd, Fred McKee, Julius I Peyser, Stacy M. Reed, Morris Simon, William W. Spalding, | Milton Strasburger and William C. | Sullivan | On May 7. 1928, the bank estab- | lished a branch at 1518 K street | northwest, which has proved a very successful addition to the institution. Ticker Club Meets Tomorrow Chauncy G. Parker, jr. secretary | of the Washington Ticker Club, an- | nounced today that there had been | a very general response to the invi- tations to the annual dinner to be giver. by the president, Thomas W. Brahany, at the Columbia Country | Club tomorrow evening at 8 o'clock. | According to an old custom, the head of the club serves one year, which means that President Bra- hany will conclude his strenuous duties | at an early date. The other officers are Ralph M. Wolfe, vice president, who is manager of the Washington | office of Mackubin, Legg & Co., and Mr. Parker, secretary-treasurer, who is 2 partner in Auchincloss, Parker & Redpath, New York Stock Ex- change firm, with head office in this | city. The program for the dinner will be rather informal, according to present | plans. Efforts were made to secure | a speaker from the New York Stock | Exchange, but doubt was expressed today over the success of this move. New York brokers are thinking of lit- tle right now but the intensely heated contest over the coming stock ex- ehange election, F. G. Addison, Jr. Bankers to Hear Lippincott. Chairman R. Earle Haycock of the suditors’ section of the District Bank- ers’ Association announced today that Lincoln H. Lippincott of the educa- tional department of the Maryland Casualty Co. will be the guest speaker at the April dinner meeting next Thursday at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr. Lippincott is a well-known au- thority on the question of forgeries and the evening will be devoted to a discussion of this topic, which has be- «come a more serious problem to banks in recent years. It is expected that the speaker will describe some of the present-day methods of professional | Sorgers and suggest some practical pre- ventive steps. Also he will acquaint the bankers with the provisions of the latest forgery bonds, forgery clauses | &nd recent changes in bond forms. Several members of the auditors’ gection are planning to take guests, which means an unusually large at- tendance. Await Payments of $400,000.
