NEW YORK, March 30.—Jouett Shouse, preseident of the American Liberty League, assailed seven admin- istration bills pending in Congress today as measures a nation “prostrate on its back for four years” cannot “digest without destroying it.” Shouse asserted agreement with the administration’s recovery objectives, but said that the administration also is insisting upon reform and investi- gation. “Is there any man in this room who, if his wife had been desperately ill of pneumonia and was just getting well, who had just thrown off a tem- perature and just begun to regain her strength, would come to that wife and tell her all of the misdeeds of the children during the period of her illness?” Shouse asked.
