D—8 BUREAU DEPLORES FALSELIQUOR ADS Report Recommends = City Heads Be Authorized to Revoke Licenses. The Better Business Bureau yes- terday forwarded to George W. Offutt, chairman of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, a report deploring unethical retail liquor advertising here and recommending that the District Commissioners give the board au- thority to revoke licenses of liquor dealers for false advertising. The report was compiled after a one-week survey of liquor advertise- ments under direction of Louis Rothschild, director of the Better Business Bureau, during whjch prac- tically 99 per cent of all locel liquor ads were studied. “Ethical liquér advertising is at a very low ebb,” Rothschild said in com- menting on the report. In some of the ads prices were ad- vertised as special, when they were regular prices, Rothschild said. In others false values were given, while in a number so-called ‘“bait” adver- tising was used. In the latter, Roths- child explained, a dealer might ad- vertise cut prices when they would be | cut only on several brands. Rothschild said the report relates that liquor price advertising as a whole probably had resulted in price reduction through competition. It further points out that the Bet- ter Business Bureau is not in a po- sition to comment on moral effect of the advertising on the public. DRUMMER SENT HERE Ralph W. Bedroom Group in American Chippendale Colonial 4-Poster Bed with Pineapple Tops It’s a long time since we’ve seen as stylish a bed room group at such a low price. Particularly handsome is the bed, with its typical Chippendale headboard and the posts with pineapple tops (usually found only on high-priced suites). Then there’s the very at- tractive mirrors and the knee-hole vanity with loads of space, and a chest with 5 large drawers. The bed (single or double), chest and dresser are marked as a group of 3 Pieces . . . $78 The addition of the vanity brings the price to $110 for the four major pieces. Other pieces to this suite also sale priced. Orders taken from floor sample for early delivery. Deferred Payments W. B. Moses & Sons F St. at 11th National 3770 “ raxnEaen
