1., BONDS TAKE STEADIER COURSE Improvement Recorded After Roosevelt’s Message. Corporates Firm. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, January 7.—United States Government _issues steadied after publication of President Roose- velt's budget message today. Treasury issues were under some pressure in the first hour, with the 3s down %, of a point. These losses were substantially recovered and de- clines in other Treasuries and in the guaranteed obligations were pared. At the beginning of the last hour Treasury 3s of 1951 were down 4/32 of & point at 100.27, Liberty fourth 4%s up 10/32ds at 103.10, and Liberty first 4';s up 10/32 at 103.10. Other Fed- erals showed unimportant changes. Corporate loans maintained a firm tone after the message became known, as they had before. Secondary rails were in some demand at prices rang- ing from fractions to more than a point above the previous close. Prime investment corporate bonds were well supported generally. Leading foreign bonds were steady. Chicago Grain By the Associated Press. CHICAGO, January T7.—President Roosevelt's budget message to Con- gress today received a bullish inter- pretation among grain traders today, and tended materially at times to lift prices. As a rule, traders regarded the mes- sage as likely to prove more or less inflationary. Tending further to ad- vance wheat prices was 3,442,000 bushels decrease today in the United States wheat visible supply total.
