FIRST PACT UNDER | FARM ACT IS MADE Milk and Cream Distribution Agreement. for Chicago Area Approved. By the Associated Press. The first marketing agreement under the farm act—covering the distribution of fluid milk and cream in; the Chi- cago area—was approved terday by Becretary of Agriculture Wallace. It becomes effective Tuesday noon and represents another step in the ad- ministration’s effort to improve and stabilize farm prices. Mcre than 100 additional agreements sre expected by farm administrators to be negotiated within the next six months, affecting the distribution of milk, vegetables, fruits, eggs, poultry and other important food products. Fixes Minimum Prices. The agreement establishes minimum prices to be paid by consumers to pro- ducers, wholesalers and retailers and outlaws many competitive trade prac- tices, including price-cutting by dis- tributors. It is exempted from prohibizions of the anti-trust laws unless Wallacs says otherwise. All distributors will be automatically licensed at the time it goes into effect tc assure their observance cf its pro- visions. A minor of milk intcrests oper- rting in Chicago opposed many pr visions of the azreement, but they wiil be required to abide by them as well as members of the majority group whic submitted the code of competition. Administrators said prosecutions will be handled in the Federal courts and will be directed by the office of the United States district attorney. Increased price schedules which went into effect in Chicago on May 16 were ratified in the agreement, the prices varying by classes and grades. Administrators estimated the agree- ment will stabilize the income of about 18,000 dairy farmers in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin supplying milk for the Chicago market. They sajd the May 16 price schedule increased the return to producers an aggregate of about $10,000 y-two practices were listed as including misrepresentation of the article sold; payment of any rebate or the making of special inducements to customers to stimulate business; pay- ment of premiums-or allowances of discounts to new custome: offering or giving of prizes to employes for ob- taining new customers; the giving away of goods without consideration; the hir- ing of any person as an employe while such person is in the employ of an- other distributor; the making of special deliveries to retail customers. C., July 29— So far as Richard J. Reynolds is con- cerned, Johanna Rischke, Broadway dancer who is suing him for $123,550, is just a girl he saw out with a boy friend a couple of times. Examined by order of the New York Supreme Court which authorized Miss Rischke to seek information supporting her allegations she was persuaded to come to this country from Czechoslo- vakia upon promise of backing for a stage career, the youthful sportsman and heir to tobacco millions denied he had ever seen her except casually on two occasions. He named these as in February, 1931, when he was introduced to her in a Brooklyn cafe by Grey S. Staples, her escort, and in June, 1931, when he went with Miss Rischke, Staples and & Mrs. Ehresmann to Coney Island. Reynolds’ testimony was taken in the office of his attorney, Sratton Coyner, here yesterday. Besides Reynolds, defendants in the suit are Staples, the Glass-Staples To- bacco Co.. Mollison received a letter from President Roosevelt .today con- gratulating them on their flight from Wales which ended at Bridgeport, Conn., a scant half hour’s flying time from New York. “It is with great pleasure that I con- gratulate 'you and Mrs. Mollison,” said the letter to the captain, “in the name of the American people on your splendid non-stop flight across the Atlantic from Pendine, Wales, to the United States. “The simplicity with which you view your flight is indeed a token of distinc- tion. A. code, and that his office force is swamped in efforts to forward the news to Washing- |ton. A total of 5,544 employes will be | affected by the replies already received.
