SOCIETY Mrs. Roosevelt Returns to Washington in Plane With Secretary of War and Mrs. Dern. RS. ROOSEVELT is again at|Englebright, Mrs. Malcolm C. Tarver, the White House after about & week's absence. She returned to Washington this morning in an Army plane with the Sec- petary of War and Mrs. George H. Dern. The First Lady visited her sons, Mr. Frankiin Delano Roosevelt, jr., and Mr. John Roosevelt, students at Groton ~School, Mass., and spent a few days in New York. Last evening she was the ~honor guest at the annual May ball given in the 7th Regiment Armory for the benefit of the rest rooms for women in which she is interested. Before going “to the armory Mrs. Roosevelt dined at the Riverside Drive home of Mrs. ‘Willilam Randolph Hearst, chairman of | the Ball Committee, Among others at Mrs. Hearst's dinner were the newly .appointed Ambassador to Argentina and Mrs. James W. Gerard and Maj. Gen. Willlam D. Connor, superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point, former commandant of the Army War College in Washington. and Mrs. Hull Have With Them Mrs. Hays. The Secretary of State and Mrs. Cordell Hull have -been joined at the Carleton by their niece, Mrs. Paul Hays of Staunton, Va. who will accompany them to Europe the end of the month. ‘The Ambassador of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Muhtar, is arriving in New York today from Mexico, where he has been for a fortnight.
