KA'I'E SMITH will head a group of | America’s outstanding radio per- sonalities on a special radio-week pro- gram" which opens Friday at Warner Brothers' Metropolitan Theater. Kate will be seen in the screen feature of the program, Paramount’s “Hello, Every- body!” her first feature-length produc- tion. The suppcrting program will con- sist of shorts starring Burns and Allen; the Mills Brothers and Abe Lyman and his band. Miss Smith, favorite queen of the air, makes her movie debut as a full- fledged star in “Hello, Everybody!” a picture written especially for her by Fannic Hurst. It is an actress, rather than a radio star on parade, that Kate presents in the film. She is the cen- tral figure in a touching drama of a woman's fight for justice. Besides old favorites, she also sings four new songs —"“Moon Song,” “Pickhninnies’ Heaven,” “Qut in the Great Open Spaces” and “Twenty Million People.” She is sup- pdrted by Randolph Scott, Sally Blane, Jerry Tucker, George Barbier, Charles Grapewin, Ted Collins, her manager, and Nat Brusiloff and his orchestra. “Face in the Sky” and Buddy Rogers at Loew’s Fox. This Metro- politan - Goldwyn - Mayer spectacular film, telling the story of the fall of the Romanoffs, is bringing together for the first time on the screen John, Ethel and Lionel Barrymore. Fllmed from an original story by Charles MacArthur, the new production was directed by Richard Boleslavsky, war hero, author, director in the Mos- cow Art Theater and producer of such stage spectacles as “The Miracle” and “The Vagabond King.” Rasputin, the Mad Monk, is played by Lionel, the ill-fated czarina by Ethel and Prince Chegodieff by John.
