" B—% WORK ON SKYLINE DRIVE TO GONTINUE Bids on Front Royal Exten-l sion Expected to Be Asked by April 1. Special Dispatch to The Star. N LURAY, Va, January 26—In all probability bids will be asked for work on the south and north ends of.« Front Royal-Panorama extension to Skyline Drive by April 1, and work will be under way by July 1, depending on whether entire allocation of $400,000 is secured, it was learned.today. Members of thog Bureau of Public Roads said plans are being prepared for advertising for bids for construc- tion of approximately 10 miles from Front Royal to what is known as Comptons Gap, in Browntown, Warren County. It is entirely probable that while the north end will be advertised first the south end censtruction will be offered a short time later. The length of the surveyed route of the Skyline Drive from Panorama to Front Royal is 32.8 miles, approxi- mately a mile less than the section from Panorama to Swift Run Gap, which was completed in the last year. ‘The 10-mile section from Panorama | north will end at a point in the moun- tains opposite the Rileyville neighbor- hood. The Skyline Drive will have its northern terminus practically in the town of Front Royal.
