Grant, 3d., director of public buildings and public parks, conferred with Budget Bureau officials yesterday in an effort to secure the release of about $20,000 impounded under the economy act. 'No decision has as_yet been announced. If the impounsled money is freed and the deficiency _appropriation, now pending, is passed, Col. Grant and his associates believe their employes will not be forced to take more than a month of administrative furlough to keep within the appropriation. Already practically all employes of the Office of Public Buildings and Public Parks have had 10 days’ administrative fur- lough, Col. Grant said. and it is pro- posed’ that_each will have to take an additional 20 days as a minimum. Unless the funds are made available and the deficiency appropriation is enacted the park employes face an administrative furlough of longer than 30 days, in addition to the legislative furlough affecting all Government workers. In the case of the buildings guards, some of the men will be on enforced furlough without pay for as high as 120 days.
