FINA JUNIOR RAIL BOND GROUP SELLS OFF Offerings Tend to Unsettle Market—Utilities Hold Recent Gains. BY CHARLES F. SPEARE. Bpecial Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, December 20.—An in- creased supply of offerings of junior railroad bonds appeared in the market today and unsettled this division of it. The liquidation was due to taking losses for income tax purposes and to the receivership announced overnight of a small railroad system in the South. The weakest group were the Missouri Pacific refunding 5s, which dropped to a level of about 20, while the 5!5s and general 4s sold lower than they have been since last Spring. Central of | Georgia 5s, which are expected to de- fault, dropped 5 points. Louisville & Nashville 4155 and Great Northern 7Ts were each off 2 points and Minneapolis, St. Paul & Saulte Ste. Marie 5s had a like drop. Other losses were a point in Southern Pacific 4!2s and in Erie refunding 5s. Chicago & Northwest- ern, Illinois Central, Rock Island and gsmmme & Ohio issues were also eay Unlted Drug 5s, after Monday's spec- tacular rise, declined over a point. There were quite heavy offerings of McKesson & Robbins 51:s around 35. Paramount- Publix 5125 dropped a point. Interna- tional Telephone 4125 and 5s were off 15 to a point. There was a fractional loss in Western Union S5s. The best grade public utilities held |, their gains, with Consolidated Gas 5s and 5';s at the highest of the year. In the United States Government | market the Liberty 3!,s sold slightly | above their previous high for 1932 and | the 3%s, the strongest of the long-term issues, duplicated last week's high. The ‘Treasury 3s rose about 4. Among the foreign issues the con- tinued heaviness of Argentine 6s, which broke through 40, attracted attention.| German government 7s lost a point | while German public utilities and mu- nicipals were up 1 to 11; points. ‘There, was a sharp recovery in French T7'.s, which have regained over 3 points oflnemuma s'49... 18 | Belgium 7s last week’s maximum decline of 5 points. United Kingdom 5!5s sold close to 106, which represents a gain of over § points | from their low several weeks ago. EQUAL TRANSPORTATION COMPETITION IS URGED | fiifl,"éfi Dros By the Associated Press. CINCINNATI, Ohio, December 20—; The National Railroad Employes 2nd | Taxpayers' Association met here to per- | feet its organization in efforts to secure | legislation equalizng competition be- tween railroads and other transporta- | tion agencles. association effected temporary organization at Chicago in September. | J.
