SAN FRANCISCO, June 9.—A sus- pected burglar, a policeman and & by- stander were killed late last night when police entered & house in which two burglars were reported. Two officers and another burglar sus- pect were critically wounded, all shot through the stomach. Occupants Absent. The dead: Ben Moore, burglar; Mer- vin Reardon, policeman, and Harry Darling, bystander, who directed police to the home of Bert Nelson, where the burglars were found. The Nelsons were away. The wounded: Andrew J. Bell and Frank Loftus, policemen, and Glenn Johnson, alias R. B. Dixon, burglar. Bell was awakened shortly before he was to go on duty at midnight by his wife's screams. He saw two men run from his home. He called police. Darling told them where the men had gone and accompanied officers to the Nelson home. Moore was found in a clothes closet. As he stood handcuffed in the living room, surrounded by police, Johnson rose from behind a piece of furniture, firing two pistols. Arrested as Companion. Moore leaped to Johnson's side. Po- lice opened fire. The suspected burglars were shot down as they attempted to back out of a door. Police later arrested Mark Pool, al- leged companion of the two. He said Johnson and Moore came to San Fran- cisco recently from Salt Lake City, and admitted, police said, that he was an ex-convict from Idaho. l NAVY ORDERS I Orders issued to officers under date of June 4, 1932 i Lieut.
